CurlyMessyBun (the brand) was birthed on July 19th, 2018. There I was sitting in my bedroom, hair in a curly messy bun, & decided to start a podcast.

The name came solely from my hair style of choice & nothing more. My whole idea for my podcast was to give a voice to those who don’t have one, or are simply too scared to live in their truth. I’ve discussed things from mental illness in the black community, challenges I’ve faced in my life, relationships, & so much more. I’ve also had 2 shirt launches, one more successful than the other. My second launch was inspired by the late Nipsey Hussle, who was murdered the day after my birthday. On my flight home from FL I paid for WiFi to create my “Be A Voice. Not An Echo.” shirts. The idea behind the shirts was exactly what it says - rather than just spitting out with the last person says, be a voice to create the change you wish to see.

The last of my endeavors was my YouTube channel. For many years I’ve wanted to join in the fun, but could never find the courage & made every excuse. I’ve had multiple people tell me I should tape the recordings of my podcast so I finally took the leap & put out my first video. With everything I do I want to encourage, empower, & enlighten others. I’m not perfect by any means, but I feel as though I was given a very special talent of keeping it real. This is something people really lack in the age of social media, thus me being “where reality meets social media”
